Would You Dare to Consume This Medicine? I have always had a phobia with earthworms. When I was a kid living in Malaysia, We used to walk to school. On rainy days there were earthworms everywhere on the road and I cried all the way to school in fright. You can imagine my horror when I share my recent encounter with you guys and girls. One day last week I was sitting opposite the shopkeeper at the counter in a Chinese medical hall. There was a pile of ( what looked to me the skin of some creatures such as fish) laid out in front of me on a big piece of white paper. Out of curiosity I asked the shopkeeper what was that. He smiled and said; “ground dragon” and I guessed it must be some creatures that I have not heard before. He went on to say,” You have plenty of them in your garden.” That instant I realized what he meant “Earthworms” and I nearly freaked out! After I calmed down I asked him what are they used for in Chinese medicine. He replied that they are good for rheumatism. I told him that I certainly would not be taking that even if I have the illness. He added that there are other herbs one can take but with the dried up earthworms added the medicine would work faster. This ingredient reflects the natural action of the earthworms burrowing through your system resulting in faster relief. That really gave me cold sweat! You just don not know what else they used as medicine. Sometimes its better not to know too much or you would be really turned off taking Chinese medicine.
